Nya Varvetskolan is a two-parallel F-6 school with 360 students.

The school is located in a beautiful natural area near the sea and forest, offering great opportunities for rich nature experiences in western Gothenburg. Our students are interested and motivated to study, supported by engaged guardians. The school’s guiding principles are safety, joy, and learning!

We are a PALS school, which means we focus on positive behavioral support at school, working with the learning environment, and fostering good collaboration between school staff and students. Currently, the schools in our area (including Hagenskolan and Långedragsskolan) are working to develop common clear and concrete expectations and rules for students in various areas such as corridors, playgrounds, and gyms. The emphasis in PALS work is on building good relationships and positive communication between teachers and students to create a safe climate at school. All teachers focus on giving students clear instructions and positive feedback. The work is ongoing to create good routines and a shared perspective at the school.

Responsibilities

We are now looking for an engaged teacher in wood and metal crafts for our students in grades 3-6. The position is 60%. You will work closely with our textile crafts teacher and are expected to maintain continuous communication with the respective class teachers.

As a teacher, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on teaching at both group and individual levels. Adjustments at the group level are a natural part of your teaching, as are various aids to ensure accessibility and create equity in your instruction. You actively work for accessible learning environments at the group level and can also identify the need for adjustments at the individual level. You create conditions for learning to take place in accordance with the school’s governing documents.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed teacher qualified to teach grades 3-6 in wood and metal crafts. You may have a few years of experience, but we also welcome those who are coming directly from teacher training.
